You believe the Bible is the literal word of God ?
That is precisely what the Jews in the time of Jesus believed.
Read this verse,
Now we know the truth. Jesus was not human ... he was a sheep. I have not the slightest doubt that God impregnate a human virgin and birth a lamb from her womb. I also have not the slightest doubt that He did not do so. Jesus was incarnated as a human being like you.
The "Lamb of God" is alludes to the lamb Abraham sacrificed in place of his son. God provided the stray lamb as a substitute for Isaac (or IShmael if you believe as Muslims do). In either case, the verse is figurative, not literal. If you actually believe John 1:29 is literal there is no hope for you. It means you have no understanding of what scripture is telling you.
Had you been born around 1 AD and been in Jerusalem at Pentecost in thirty plus years later, you might have been among the crowd who heard Peter preach Christ crucified, risen and ascended. You might have been one of those whose eyes were opened and been filled with The Holy Spirit empowering you to see the truth, believe, and be saved.
You would not have to contend with what was written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, James, Peter, Paul, and others whose writings fill the New Testament. You would have had only the Tanakh which Jesus is recorded as saying was true but misunderstood by Scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees. The implication is clear. If the Lord countermanded or reinterpreted the Old Testament in His teachings, He was saying it is not LITERAL.
Claims from pulpits that the Bible is inerrant in its original text are meaningless. There are no original texts and if there were there is no one who could read them in their time frame. Again and again Jesus emphasized the spiritual meanings of scripture. First century believers had absolutely nothing but the Holy Spirit to guide them.
Since Jesus ascended to heaven the Holy Spirit has been shed abroad in the earth to indwell humans and lead them into all truth. The Spirit does this in many ways including through scripture. If Gutenberg had not been born and inspired, you might never have seen a modern Bible. What then literalist? What then?
The Holy Spirit teaches believers not only through the Bible but in spite of the Bible. The canon was concocted by men, all claiming to be inspired by the Holy SPirit, yet disagreeing among themselves and settling matters by voting. Don't for a minute think that Satan was not there.
You who are stubborn literalists pick and choose what is sacred and what is open to your interpretation. You would be a fool to agree Jesus was not a man but a sheep in spite of what the Bible says. There are about one billion fools who believe when Jesus said,
How are you going to do that pilgrim? He left earth about two thousand years or so ago. He's not here to be cannibalized. MEN, not God, have concocted a miracle of transubstantiation of bread and wine into the actual flesh of Jesus. This works only when the right mantra is uttered by an ordained man. Ordinary believers can't perform this miracle but a select brainwashed few can do it day in and day out but they are governed by a rule that prohibits repeating it more than three times in one day. How stupid is this?
What? You don't think Jesus meant it literally? How astute. How can you possibly reconcile such a view with your foundational belief in literalsim? Too bad you can't understand the entire Bible as God meant it. The Father of Lies most likely has you terrified that trying to listen to the Holy Spirit, who is the Author of Truth, makes you a doubter.
You stand by your claim that scripture is literal because ... what ? Examine yourself. I can show you many, many verses which are clearly figurative, allusional, metaphoric, etc.
Wake up Literalist.
Listen to God instead of men and Satan who blinds men to truth.
Nothing can separate you from the love of God.
If you believe and confess Christ as Savior there is no downside and no one can snatch you from His grasp.
