Works of GOD the FATHER
Caused, by command, the existence of spiritual light, then created the cosmos,
including MAN whom He placed on earth to tend the garden God had made.
[ Genesis 1:1-3:24 ]
(Scripture states God 'rested' from His labors on the seventh day, yet He is working still.)
Jesus speaking:
John 5:17 NAS
But He answered them,
“My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.”
|
(The 'work' God is doing is the redemption of mankind from the evils of the flesh.)
(Scripture does not tell us if angels, the "heavenly host" constantly praising God,
pre-existed the cosmos. They are without doubt created beings because there was nothing but God
before He caused something to exist; time and space. They are referred to as 'sons' of God in Job
where Satan is included among them. They are distinguished from THE SON of GOD made man
who is one with the Father).
Works of GOD the SON
Incarnated as a divine human being to teach the Good News of the Kingdom of God,
which all who believe in Him may enter and become sons of God, having eternal life,
because of the sacrifice the Son offered for Man's past, present, and
future sinfulness.
[ John 1:1-15, 20:11-29, Acts 1:7-11 ]
Works of GOD the HOLY SPIRIT
Guided the prophets of old. Descended upon the incarnated Son, Jesus, empowering
Him to perform miracles. Subsequently, following the ascension of Christ to
heaven, the Holy Spirit descended on and inhabits those who believe. He continually convicts,
comforts, and witnesses the truth within believers. (Thank God for that).
Those who do not believe do not receive Him. They live in spiritual darkness no matter what else they
may hold to be truth.
[ John 16:6-14, Acts 2:1-4 ]
Works of MAN
Was created and given responsibility for the Garden of Eden and dominion over all the
earth with freedom to eat from the Tree of Life (eternal?) but forbidden from
eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Man did not fulfill his
responsibility.
[ Genesis 3:6-7, Matthew 15:19 ]
Genesis 3:6-7 NIV
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye,
and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her
husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened,
and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
|
Matthew 15:19 NIV
Jesus speaking:
"For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality,
theft, false testimony, slander."
|
Since the beginning, Man was told, and is still being told, to believe God and the One
He sent. Few have fulfilled this responsibility.
[ Matthew 22:14, John 3:16-21, John
5:24-27, 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 ]
Matthew 22:14 NIV
Jesus speaking:
“For many are invited, but few are chosen.”
|
John 3:16-21 NIV
Jesus speaking:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall
not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not
believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light
because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the
light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the
light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God."
|
John 5:24-27 NIV
Jesus speaking:
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life
and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of
the Son of God and those who hear will live.
For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself.
And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man."
|
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NIV
However, as it is written:
"What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived
the things God has prepared for those who love him -
these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit."
|
And finally, Man's responsibility then and now is explained by Jesus.
John 6:28-29 NASB
Therefore they said to Him,
“What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?”
Jesus answered and said to them,
“This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”
